When I was growing up, I always said that I would either be a country music singer, a meteorologist, or a cosmetologist. With the first being my primary passion & dream that at time, I moved to Nashville in 2007 to attend Belmont University and obtain a Music Business degree. Belmont was an amazing experience that I will forever cherish, but after working the music industry grind for a while, I soon realized that life wasn't for me long term.

As the daughter of a chicken farmer, I was always aware of the lifestyle of an entrepreneur by watching how my father ran his farm business, and I appreciated the flexibility that he had to be there for us when we got home from school every day. My jobs out of college were great, but they were positions within corporate entities that provided a very slow growth path, limited my earning potential, and required a very rigid work schedule. My husband has been self employed since 2006, and when we married in 2014, I knew I wanted the flexible lifestyle that he enjoyed, so I made plans to begin the process of business ownership.

After competing for the title of Miss Tennessee in 2013, I began receiving requests to style other contestants for the upcoming preliminary season, and also to travel to other states with an established pageant hair & makeup team. That experience led me to dive head-first into the beauty industry, and in January 2015, I quit my entertainment industry job with Viacom Media Networks (MTV, CMT, Vh1, etc.) to begin a journey of full time entrepreneurship.

Later that year, in August of 2015, I launched MHD Cosmetics, a full line of luxury cosmetics, in response to the growing need to represent a makeup brand for my clientele. I worked as a freelance artist for many years, styling hundreds of clients for weddings, pageants, & photo shoots, but eventually felt the need to establish a brick & mortar location for my businesses. In May 2018, the day after I found out that I was pregnant with twins, I started esthetician school, and received my license in June 2019. I opened the first licensed establishment for MHD Beauty in September of 2019 in a 500 sq ft suite inside a larger building near downtown Nashville.

I am thrilled that we opened the doors to the brand new MHD Beauty Parlor in March 2023, which is located in the Berry Hill neighborhood of Nashville. This beauty parlor is the culmination of so many dreams of mine - being the CEO of a respectable brand, having a beautiful space to work, cultivating a stellar team of artists, and becoming an integral part of a thriving community. We look forward to having you in.
